Frequently Asked Questions

This is a list of common questions & answers about psychotherapy:

Q: What does the LLP after your title mean?
A: I have a Michigan Limited License which permits practice under the supervision of Dr. Howard Erman, Ph.D, a Michigan Licensed Psychologist.

Q: Can I  come to therapy just once in a while?
A: Therapy is best if you come on a regular basis, because I can stay up with what is going on in your life.  Even small things at work, home, off-time can tell a great deal of what you are going through.

Q: Why do you have a Master of Divinity, are you a Priest?
A: Yes, I am a Catholic Priest.  I graduated from Saint John's Provincial Seminary (Plymouth, MI).  I was a parish Priest for many years in Grand Rapids and Metro Detroit, Michigan.

Q: I have questions about gender (i.e. homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, transgender), can you help me?
A: I have many years of experience and training in this area.  Please see my Resources page for a list of links to websites which may be of benefit to you.

Q: I've been thinking that I should talk to someone about  things that are bothering me.  How do I know if I need therapy?
A: You can call me and we can talk about it.  Then we can set-up an initial session to discuss it further.  You can get a feel for what therapy is about & I can determine if therapy will help you.

Q: These FAQ's are helpful, but I don't see the answer to my question(s) here.  What should I do?
A: Please feel free to call me (248) 921-3249 or email me at info@martinkurylowicz.com.  I want to help answer any questions you have and make you comfortable in seeking therapy.
